The guide

Pedal power is a lovely way to reach coffee country, as long as you respect the terrain: the lane down to the farms of vereda Palestina is unpaved and all downhill — which means all uphill on the way home.

The road towards Cocora is mostly paved and shared with Willys jeeps and visitors’ cars. Mountain-bike tracks are mentioned in the Cocora area.

Ask before you roll

At reception, ask what kind of bikes are available, whether a helmet, lock and lights come with them, the current price, and which routes they’d suggest for your legs and the weather.

Keep right and give way to jeeps on narrow roads, carry water and a rain layer, and be back before dark.
