The house
A corner full of names.
No founding legend, no glossy brochure: just a traditional corner house on Calle Real, a painted forest at reception, and walls that travellers keep writing on. Here’s what the photos — and the hostel’s own posts — show.

-
Painted eaves
Salento’s houses are known for their colour: bahareque walls, fired-clay roof tiles and painted woodwork. Here the underside of the eave is yellow, trimmed in red.
-
The sign at the corner
The hostel’s name hangs right on the corner of the house — the same corner the hostel is named after.
-
Balconies on the street
The big mixed dorm runs along the street front and opens onto a balcony, where guests sit to watch Calle Real go by.
-
You sleep upstairs
The hostel is on the upper floor — “piso 2” in its address. The street level belongs to the shops.
-
Finding the door
Guests describe going in at street level beside the shop and climbing to reception. If in doubt, call or WhatsApp the hostel.
-
About 130 years old
That’s the hostel’s own description on its Booking.com listing: a traditional heritage house. We haven’t found a document with the exact date.

The corner
Two storeys of white plaster, a yellow eave fanning over the corner, green-and-yellow balconies and the hostel’s sign right where the two streets meet. At dusk the eave glows like a lantern over Calle Real.
You sleep upstairs. Downstairs belongs to the street — shops, footsteps, jeeps heading for the plaza.

A painted forest
At the top of the stairs, reception is wrapped in a botanical mural by @bamboleoart: bare branches winding across the walls, bromeliads, moss and air plants, and a little orange hiker beside the logo.
The same branches still frame the desk in the hostel’s 2024 photos.

Walls that talk
Names, flags, doodles, a jeep, hearts, advice. Travellers write on the walls and on the front of the kitchen counter — it was already covered in 2019, and it’s still filling up in the December 2024 photos.

Packs still on
For a while the hostel photographed new arrivals at the logo wall, often before they’d even taken their backpacks off — and posted them with flags and grins.
These are archive pictures: the faces change every week.

Around the counter
A long wooden counter, hanging moss-ball plants, a compact kitchen. It’s where breakfast gets improvised, routes get compared and strangers turn into travel partners.

One corner, everywhere
The hostel’s black business card travelled too: it was photographed at Marina Bay in Singapore and on a neon street in Tokyo, and the hostel shared both.
